Hello all,
Please inform me of the best town/location to live in that is within one hour travel time by car to Austin - does not matter if it is east, west, north or south. I look at the map and see so many town and communities. What is your opinion?
Thanks much.

Are you going to be working IN Austin? Most of the towns an hour out of Austin are just fine. Some, especially West of Austin, may be more rural. Of course, an hour out East of Austin, they will be too. Bastrop, Salado, Wimberly, Dripping Springs, Georgetown, Round Rock, Hutto, Leander, Cedar Park, Marble Falls, etc...these are a few to get you started.

Hello Love roses:
Yes, will be working in Austin - but will not have to physically be in Austin except for a week every month (will do most of my work remotely). So, thank you for your information, but if you were allowed only 2 choices, where would you live?

If you cannot afford to live in Central of Downtown Austin, i would suggest moving to the Dallas area. The Austin suburbs are downright SCAREY for the most part.

Hmmmm...hard to say, but probably around Marble Falls or Georgetown out of the ones I named, but there are others I'd pcik too. The suburbs are not scary

Within one hour? I'd suggest Round Rock, Cedar Park or Dripping Springs. It easily takes an hour to get to downtown Austin during rush hour.

Not enough information to give you a good answer.

What do you like to do? Do you prefer small town living or something a bit more suburban, or something a little bit rural? What amenities do you want in your community? Are schools an issue? If you are going to be commuting daily into Austin, north Austin, south Austin, about where would you be commuting to? What's your price range, and will you be renting or buying (or first one and then the other)?

Flesh out the request a bit more so we can get a picture of the kind of place you'd like to live, and we'll be able to narrow it down for you a whole lot better!

Make sure that you have good internet connectivity! Any town should be fine but there are rural pockets all around Austin where both cable and dsl connections can be problematic!

I would first ask you what are your ages? What kind of things do you do on your free time? Are you used to a country setting or do you like quick access to the city? And although I enjoy both ends of town there is a difference....I love San Marcus for a quiet area, there is the college kids but it serene. I myself live in NW just give me a bit more info...

I will be by myself. Prefer the more quiet living, but does not have to be rural. Do not need anything special in the community except a good church. Would be renting an apartment - prefer to pay no more than $630 a month. Commuting to the VA at: 1615 Woodward St - which is around where 290 + I35 intersect. Hope this helps, and thank you to all for your help.
