I am contemplating a move into a duplex off of Cat Creek in Far West & wondering if anyone has experience with the commute from there into the 38th St. Seton Main area during rush hour. Thanks

I'd call that Cat Mountain rather than Far West, if it's the street I'm thinking of. It's a super-nice area though.

As for commute... during rush hour, you may want to avoid Mopac, as it will be a parking lot. But you can get to Seton on 38th on regular roads. Not a stressful commute at all IMO. Probably 15-20 mins max. But give yourself plenty of extra time to get lost the first couple of times you try the route!

Totally agree, both with the easy commute and it being Cat Mountain and not Far West. Easy to take roads other than Mopac.

Thanks for the clarification & thoughts. I am pleasantly surprised to see the duplexes throughout that nice community.

I actually live up the street from those duplexes. Yeah you can take back roads to get to Seton and avoid Mopac

I'm curious.....would those duplexes (& the general area) be on the Doss/Murchison/Anderson school track?

I always liked that area. What would the approx. sq. ft. & monthly lease be for a typical unit?

thanks.

Yes, they are Doss/Murchison/Anderson, same as the duplexes on the other side of Mesa closer to Far West and Mopac. There are also some duplexes in the same general area a little farther north off Mesa and just inside of 360 and Mountain Ridge (Westover hills), I think those are Hill/Murchison/Anderson.

The square footage on those Cat Mountain duplexes (Cat Creek & Smokey Valley are basically the only 2 streets with duplexes on Cat Mountain) I think are about 1000 - 1500 square feet each side and would rent for $1200 to $1500+.

you could probably very easily take a bus from farwest to somewhere on 35th street.

I am think you thinking you will end up walking about .5 miles total.

if you are gone with a car it is way to easy. even in rush hour should be no more than 15-20 minutes.

That is very large square footage for a single side 2br. Must have really big rooms. Those are some very nice duplexes there, the surrounding single family homes are mostly in the 500K+ range.
