Hi Everyone,

We just moved to Austin a month ago. We're thinking of ttc this year now that we're somewhere we want to stay for good. We love it here!

I will be a first-time mom and I will need an OB/GYN. Incidentally, we don't have any doctors here yet. We have insurance with Aetna that is pretty flexible.

I live in Southwest Austin, so I'd like to have a doctor fairly close, same w/hospital. Since this would be my first, I would like a hospital birth but not an overly "medical" one.

Please help! I'm clueless as to where to start. Which hospital-- St. David's or Seton? Which doctors?

I don't know anyone here yet, so I have no one to ask for referrals, which is why I am turning here to you all.

Any and all advice that you would offer would be greatly appreciated.

I live in SW Austin and would highly recommend Hill Country OB/GYN. They have their main office near Brodie and Slaughter and a secondary office in the medical professionals building at Seton SW. I and several close friends use Dr. Ana Eduardo there. I have been a patient of hers for almost 7 years. She delivered my first child a little over a year ago and helped us get through an incomplete miscarriage/D&C late last year. I also hear that any of the other doctors in the practice are equally as good as Dr. Eduardo. They do have a Meet the Docs night about once per quarter so that you can ask questions of each one in an open forum and get to know all of them. It should be listed on their website.

Their practice tends to deliver only at Seton SW. I think that St. David's is their back up hospital. Seton SW is a great little hospital. They have great birthing rooms and it can sometimes feel like you are the only patient there. We loved our head delivery nurse, Paula, at Seton SW. She was simply great.

Welcome to Austin!

Agree as well. I'm a father but was impressed by Hill Country and Seton Southwest. We used Landermeyer. We have friends who are doctors and are planning on using her as well. Seton SW is like a private hotel - great rooms and great staff. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies! I will definitely check out those doctors. It is good to hear that Seton is a good hospital as well.
