I've just graduated in December, and luckily I finally found some work - although it's unrelated to my degree and the pay is low ($10/hr). I need an efficiency or 1 bedroom apartment on a $500-$550/mo budget.

I'm not sure how to apply for limited income housing, does anybody have any experience with this?

I was looking at Cannon South Apartments online, and they seem have some low-priced efficiencies. Any opinions? Safe area? It's pretty close to my work.

Thank you

You might try looking on the East side of 35. In the South Austin area, those seem to be very reasonable! And I would try searching on Cragislist. You can put in your size and $ requirements and get a good feel for what is out there. It will also link you to some apartment locators and while some folks don't like to use them, their services are free, so it can't hurt!

Maybe get a roommate? You can get a pretty nice place if you split rent..
