We just moved here and cannot find a used car via Craigslist (as we have always done in the past). Anything we find on Craigslist is either 1) gone instantly, 2) some dude who buys at auction and fixes himself, 3) a scam or 4) a salvage title.

The dealers charge $1000+ for the same car compared to a private owner. We're looking for a reliable family car around $5-10k.

In the San Francisco area there were places where people who wanted to sell a car would come and park for the weekend, like a high school parking lot etc. Does anyone know of lots like this in the N. Austin (we're in Round Rock) area?

Thanks so much!

Someone told me once that people do that in the Wal Mart parking lot on 71. That is going to be about 30 minutes south of you with no traffic.

There is a small one in Cedar Park where people pay can pay to have their car out. Its across old 183 from Popeyes chicken. It usually has mostly trucks a few cars and sometimes a RV or boat. Not even sure how to find info on it.

You can also use autotrader and search for private sellers only. Good luck.
