Not so many years ago, the sterotype was the 'Bubbas' of south Austin vs. the 'Yuppies' of north Austin. In reality, it was more like the old families south vs. new blood up north. Anyway, it was quite tongue in cheek. They used to have a tug-of-war across town lake (which I can't yet call by its' new name), with Bubbas on the South shore and Yuppies on the North shore.

I was at the eye doctor the other day, he looked at my file and says 'web developer, huh? you look like a web developer.'

I guess my messy hair, scraggly beard, shorts, flip-flops and painted toenails gave me away.

As for a south austin look, that could mean anything. lots of the ubertrendy hipsters are sporting 80 dollar retro t-shirts.

I don't care what people dress like, with one exception:

If you tuck your shirt in when you don't have to (i.e. work/fancy dinner) then I don't trust you.

Nope, just confused, and perpetually in traffic.

ooohhh..don't confuse bubbas with hippies...not the same thing at all . Babbas are closer to rednecks than hippies (at least, back in the day).

Really, the old S. vs N. has pretty much gone by the wayside.
