My daughters attend an elementary school that collects a Spanish tuition. This is in order to pay the teacher's salary. Do all elementary schools require the families to pay for this? Or do most just not offer Spanish? I don't really know how our tax dollars are dispersed for education but it seems that offering Spanish at the elementary age in such a decent school district would be included.

Which school is this? Most AISD elementary schools that are not dual language do not offer foreign language instruction. An exception is when the PTA supports a position or when there is a specific grant (like Korean at Travis Heights ES).

Sounds like maybe this is what is going on? Talk to the principal.

Your tax dollars are the only required payment you are to give to your school. Yes, they would like you to pay towards other things but you are not required to pay anything else in regards to educational services during normal school hours.
