What was this military (US Navy?) P3 Orion Hurricane Hunter doing buzzing our neighborhood several times this past Friday evening around 7-7:30pm? It isn't capable of fire-fighting.

Anybody know?

I had seen one of those taking off from ABIA last friday about that time and it made a b-line heading NW shortly after taking off. Looked like they had a specific mission of sorts.

Was it just one, or were there a string of them headed elsewhere? There's a big front heading through the northern midwest, and they may be going to help predict tornadoes.

There was just the one from what I could tell.

It made at least a half dozen wide circles around the area over a period of 10-15 minutes.

The last time I saw it, it was going due south.

Maybe it was flying back to ABIA, as it is almost directly south of Brushy Creek.

I don't know if it can fight fires, but I assumed it was related to the brush fires.

I saw it too. It kept circling so low it kind of freaked me out. Turned on the news to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
