Just saw the Fleet Foxes last week, and they do put on quite the show. Definitely worth watching.

Well, only the first 10 to 15 bands on each day would belong in the "what's hot now" group; the bands/artists after that are all fairly to completely obscure, except to die hard fans of those bands. So don't feel too out of the loop for not hearing most of the bands for ACL Fest, or, really, any festival, old man.

Crazy thing is that they've already sold out of the 3-day passes. A buddy of mine was on the C3 email list for early purchase. They called in order down the list to offer the 3-day wristbands before they officially went on sale. Never got a call.. found out online they'd already sold out. Sold out before they even officially went on sale. Wow.

Scalpers/ticket brokers are going to make a fortune this go-around.

Get a half dozen 3-day wristbands, rent out your pad anywhere within two miles of Zilker for that weekend, and you could clear $8K easily. Maybe $12K if your place is nice, and you throw in a car.

Yes, it is indeed possible to like classic rock and the more contemporary bands. They have a Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young quality about them.

So, when did they officially go on sale? I sure missed that.

Er, when were they supposed to have, I guess? When the line-up was announced? They usually go on sale before that, right?

I think the three-day passes were sold out even before they even announced who was playing.

Presale passes sold out in 45 minutes.. in October of last year:
ACL Fest 2011 Pre-sale Passes Sold Out | AustinPost.org

Then the e-list presale tickets sold out two weeks ago:
Austin TX music: Music listings, bands, music news, reviews, SXSW and ACL | Austin360.com

The ACL website says they are sold out of the passes, and the only tickets left are for single day admission on Sunday:
Tickets | ACL Music Festival ~ Sep. 16-18, 2011 ~ Zilker Park, Austin, Texas
