We're thinking of moving to Austin, my husband would work at the Data Foundry Data center. He doesn't mind a bit of a commute if it means we'll be in a better community. Any suggestions for where to live? We'd really like a kid friendly community that is pretty social. My oldest (5) will be starting kindergarten this fall. Thanks!

Which location? It appears there is the recently built "Data Ranch" in SE Austin, and another smaller data center in Rollingwood.

I would look at Oak Hill, Travis Country, Shady Hollow or Circle C as the usual recommendations. If you run a search on this forum for those neighborhoods, you should get good feedback.

Another area that is often overlooked is Bastrop - there is an upscale neighborhood near Lost Pines with sprawling ranch homes on huge lots with great access to Austin: Bastrop TX Homes for Sale & Bastrop Real Estate - Zillow

empty lots start at 58K, and the houses currently for sale range from $265K to $2.25MM with the majority being in the mid $300K range. Good luck, and welcome to Austin.

DFDC is located at 7401 East Ben White Blvd # 1000, Austin, TX. (Ben White is the same as TX HWY 71). If Austin is too pricey, consider Buda, Texas, just a few miles south on IH 35. Last fall, Hays Consolidated I.S.D.school opened Ralph Pfluger Elementary in Buda. Happy House Hunting!

450k max? circle c.
Most homes average 300-400k in circle C. 450k will buy you 1 of the "Higher end" or larger homes in Circle C. its Very family oriented id suggest circle c ranch, Or Meridian. Lots and lots of families 1 of the more family friendly area's of austin. Lots of stay at home mom's and things to do. The public schools in the Area are good for now. The High School Bowie is the best public high school in the rather small school district of AISD. The only schools that can compare to it are Cedar park high school Westlake high school and Lake Travis, but all those schools are outside of the Of the imediate city limits and outside of the Aisd school district boundaries. And of course you always have private schools as options.
