I picked up an old newspaper from about 2006 that detialed the owner's struggle with the Marriott complex that wanted to buy out her "small restaurant". What ever happened? I'm afraid to ask. I hope that it's not another piece of old Austin that's gone.

Yes, sorry to say Las Manitas has been gone for a while now (2 years?). They were supposed to reopen in another building after the hotel project displaced them, but that fell through. So did the hotel. It's just an empty lot now.

Honestly, not that much of a loss IMO. The location was a bit of a legend but the food was not in the top tier of TexMex in this city.
