We are looking to relocate our family to TX, my husband wanted to move to San Antonio but the more I read about Austin the more I like it...he says as long as he can get me to move out of New England he will move to Austin instead of San Antonio...

Can anyone offer information on the best places to live in Austin? Thanks!!!!

What do you and your husband do for a living? Key advice on Austin is to live close to where you work. If you work north--live north. If you work south--live south. There are nice neighborhoods scattered all over, but the last thing you want is to have a 1.5 hour commute each way. Our traffic is terrible.

We are both in the medical field. He is an Organ Transplant Coordinator and I am a Medical Billing Account Manager.

In the medical field you are better off going over to Houston where that industry is huge. Or maybe, right now just wherever you can get a job first. I'd look in all major TX cities and see what happens.

Traffic is brutal here in Austin. It looks like a small city, but has poorly designed highways that have more than the traffic they can handle, so seriously DO NOT plan to commute across the city East/West or North/South or you will spend your life in the car...frustrated. If you're from New England you'll probably prefer to be in the hill country to the West of Austin where it's pretty hilly tree-covered areas on the white Texas limestone, rather than the flat land to the east (still pretty green though). You might consider something south of Austin though like Buda if you want Austin, but closer to San Antonio.
