I'm part of a UK production team who are coming to Austin as part of our travel show aimed at 18-30 year olds. We want to show want interesting, quirky and fun things three young guys can get up to. It's a low end show so nothing expensive. Can anyone give me advice/tips? And are there any camp sites in the area for the guys to park their camper van?

You can camp, rent boats, swim in the coves, cliff jump. There's all kinds of things around the lake. Devils Cove, Volente Beach, hippie hollow. I think there's a thread somewhere about other rv camps. One near Shady Grove resturaunt near downtown (Congress area). Those are the only ones I can think of so far, but don't worry other people will chime in here Pace Bend is usually heavily camped during holidays like Memorial Day, labor day, 4th of July. Then it's just crazy mayhem camping, campsite party hopping, etc....

I think there is a place up near Round Rock Express Ball Field off of Hwy 79. If they could get in there, they could have some fun at a ball game and drive to the city rather easily. It might be called Settlers Park or it might be another one. I'm not sure. The one by Shady Grove always looks packed solid, but if they could get in there - they've struck gold for fun. They can walk to so many places in the downtown area from there. What about City Park off of 2222/360 area. That would be a fun place to camp out at. It is right on the Colorado River. There are usually many people there in the day. Ski Shores isn't that far down the river and they have live music often and good eats.

Weather permitting, Take em Tubing on a river..

Find someone with a descent boat and get them out on the lake!

My 2 cents

The park in Round Rock is called Old Settlers Park, and there is rv camping near the Express Stadium. There's also a water park there called Rock N River.

... but totally boring for a group of young adult men. And as everyone on this forum is sure to mention - definitely NOT Austin.

Get yourself in at the Shady Grove RV Park.

Nope, it's not Austin, as I first posted Lake Travis and Shady Grove: But here are Austin ones in and around downtown Austin (I left out Hill Country Parks since Austin was specified)

1.Armadillo R.V Park
2. Austin Lone Star RV Resort
3. Austin RV Park North
4. Hudson Bend RV Park
5. Sa Hacienda RV Park
6. Lake Travis Inn and RV Park
7. Midtown RV Park
8. Oak Forest RV Park
9. Paradise Cove RV Resort
10. Royal Palms Park

You can probably do a google search on all of these for more info and phone numbers/reservation information. Hope this gives you a good start.

Number 5 on the above list should be La Hacienda RV Park. Sorry for the typo!
