Swimming, shade and cold drinks. Oh and some nice air conditioned movie theaters. That's basically our summer when he's not in camp.

Exactly! I was on vacation this week and we went to the Austin Childrens Museum, My Gym, played on the deck in the kiddie pool and water table, went to the mall, etc. Outdoor activities are done in the AM as early as possible.

I would rather have it too hot than 13 degrees out! I lived in MI for a time so I speak from experience.

Kids are adaptable, more than adults. My son has been at an outdoor camp all summer and he's doing fine.

I grew up on a farm and cattle ranch and my parents sure never cared how hot it was. I was outside all day everyday raking hay, working cattle, building fence, whatever was needed. They'll get used to it. Like it was said, kids are adaptable. And spoiled.

Libraries or book stores are fun to hang out in. Also not sure if there are many "community" centers around here that has an indoor pool, basketball court, gym, etc. But I would think that could keep them occupied.
