I'm not one to know 'too much' about hipsters, but hear is my list (from my point of view)!:

1. Beauty Bar
2. Barbarella
3. Swan Dive
4. Rio Rita
5. Shangri'la
6. The Brixton
7. The Liberty
8. Cheer Up Charlie's
9. The Mohawk
10. Lustre Pearl

Great job imonfiya. Now those places are far too mainstream for the hipsters. Where will they go now?

Probably along Rainey St., E. 12th St., and E. 5th St. There seems to be more places opening up along those streets.

They can't go to the mainstream places, but can't go to the non-mainstream places either. lol

Speaking of mainstream, why do so many that claim they aren't mainstream have facebook pages and smart-phones?

I saw a couple of hipsters at Elysium when I used to live in Austin: not that I am recommending Elysium; I did not even like that tacky club and I'm open minded. Austin hipsters aren't as common as people keep screaming about: people screech as if Hipsters are taking over the city of Austin; when in fact I saw more people with khaki shorts, boat shoes, Birkenstocks, and multi-colored collared shirts in every establishment. Lastly, I saw a small "gang" of hipsters hanging out on the side of the street on 6th street.

Any rundown bar in East Austin that's not too ethnic would be my guess.

I hung out mostly at Rio Rita. That place isn't pretentious at all. It's very chilled and laid back. And they're always pretty friendly as I've always found someone to talk to there. It's more loungey than anything and a great place to meet up with friends.

Are you saying that hipsters are only white?
