Move to Austin - Need advice.

Have you visited Austin, stayed for more than a couple of days, and liked it? I hope you do that before making such a big move, otherwise you may end up like some people here (you can easily find them on this forum )who hate Austin, constantly badmouth it, but refuse to move away.

I disagree. My trips to the Midwest were always pleasant - mostly because the people were no-nonsense and genuinely friendly. Even if some of the people in these states hold their "ohs" for a long time speaking.....(just for fun).

The weather may be very different but a lot of values are common.

No, I have never been to Austin, maybe I will come take a look around before moving.

I have lived in few major cities ranging from Seattle, Chicago, Wichita, Kansas City and Miami, FL and trust me when I say this, midwest is by far the most relaxed and people friendly, family oriented region. Then again the priorities differ from person to person. For me, I hate rushing things, driving fast, cutting people of... or doing everything in rush has become a habit, its like you are running against time, hate it...

Austin might not be the place for me, but will see.

There are two things about Chicago that stand out for me compared to other cities of similar size: the friendly people and the good food. Minneapolis people are similarly cool and friendly. Boston - not at all. LA - not so much. The Midwest personality is very agreeable.
