Do you have scorpions in Austin- as much as San Antonio? What about those large, black centipedes that bite?

Thanks.

No, I don't think so. I haven't experienced scorpions outside of SW Austin, and definitely not above the Colorado River in Central and North Austin. Here's to hoping that trend continues!

I'm in Steiner Ranch and we see them pretty regularly. My friend in Round Rock (Forest Creek) has had issues with them as well. So, yes we do have them, even up north. We supposedly have those horrible centipedes too (shudder), but mercifully I have never seen one.

It depends on the surrounding area of your neighborhood. If they're still digging everything up to build new homes then there's a better chance that you'll have scorpions. If your neighborhood is built out with surrounding neighborhoods that are also built out, you're probably less likely to have them. I would expect them if you're in a new construction neighborhood.

I live in Lago Vista, and yes there are scorpions. I see them all the time on the patio. Only one has gotten in the house so far.

I've seen the monster centipedes while living in the NW Austin area, but no scorpions as of yet in NW Austin or Cedar Park. I'm sure they exist but I just haven't come across one.

Saw a wee little snake a few months ago on my driveway. Didn't look like one of the viper family...maybe a brown snake?
