Nothing like seeing a group of buff glistening UT runners go by just as your plate of nachos, extra cheese and jalapeno arrives to sound the alarm that the flat chest is not gonna last and may stretch out into something unpleasant very soon if you're not careful.

I've never been much of a gym membership or group class guy but I used to have a trainer twice back in NYC.

I love that 1-on-1, empty gym, a couple of hours a week thing with someone who knows what they're doing and keeps track of your progress. And it worked wonders. Since everything is cheaper in Austin, I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendation of such gyms here in Austin?

Help, before it's too late!

P.S. This is only 30% fueled by resentment for my ex gf and her new boxer meathead.

I've asked around for good training gyms for my son, and from what I concluded, HIT Center is one of the best.

Thanks! Great website but....pretty expensive. Are there cheaper alternatives? What was so great about this one, may I ask?

This place is the best, ask for Nigel! $40 an hour, private trainer, friendly and supportive environment. Only left the place because we moved.

hyde park gym is the best place in austin, with the best trainers! they all know what they're doing, and work with a huge variety of clients. it's a locally owned, small gym that is packed with all the equipment you could imagine. serious people work out at hpg, so if you're just looking to check yourself out in the mirror the whole time, it's not the place for you.

you can message me if you have any specific questions, or want an insider opinion on the trainers.

Second on Hyde Park Gym. It's kind of a muscle factory, looks like a big garage, but it's awesome and very "no bull****" -- no contracts, fees are right on the website. Everyone there is really nice. Haven't ever hired a trainer there, though.
