I had not realized he was still alive. I remember him giving a wonderful presentation when I was at SMU in Dallas.

Unfortunately we are to new to Austin to know who he was, but the Rabbi at our synagogue just sent out an email today saying that Cactus Pryor had passed away. The rabbi said Cactus was a regular visitor to our synagogue since his son, daughter in law and granddaughters are members there and he will be greatly missed.

Thanks for the correction. I didn't realize that was his brother (but it's been 30 years ). Both were institutions in our little town.

My parents were friends with him. He'd always come into their store on Congress Avenue to chat. I remember him as a little kid. RIP Cactus, you will be greatly missed in Austin.
