I would like to see updated web information that matches what you are seeing/hearing.

I'm trying to get home as fast as I can and as safe as I can.

Who is pathetic here?

Every local news station has been covering this since Sunday morning. There are multiple fires and every agency involved is busy as hell. They are focused first on the safety of everyone near a fire. NO deaths as of yet.

The city of Austin activated their emergency plan yesterday.

As a Steiner resident, I can say that the news coverage has been pathetic. It has not mentioned one single section or street affected by the fire. People were calling into 590 last night begging for that information. Most of the up-to-date info has been coming from the Facebook page. People in the neighborhood have been reporting where houses have and have not burned, how people can get medications, etc. People have posted areal views they took themselves. News hasn't mentioned or showed any of that.

Yes, FB has been very useful, Steiner Social Committee and Steiner Ranch Post have very useful pages. There are multiple pages for Bastrop too including Storm Chasers and Bastrop Co Fire Large Animal Info

This video was taken on Medina River Way yesterday evening.

Strong winds whip up wildfires in central Texas - CNN.com

I think residents are frustrated right now because we want to DO something to help these people who have lost everything.

For those of us from far away, probably the best way to help our friends in Austin is to donate funds through the Red Cross:

Another example of bad news coverage - KVUE is showing aerial photos of Steiner and reporting it as the Canyon Glen section of Steiner. It is NOT Canyon Glen. It is actually the end of Medina River Way in Plateau section of Steiner. If they checked the updates on Facebook or Google maps, they would know that.

Pretty disturbing, all those houses burning and not a firefighter in sight. I'm sure they were fighting the fire elsewhere.

They posted a long aerial footage video of the fire damaged area at Steiner here Raw video: Steiner Ranch aerials | kvue.com Austin

Anyone who lives there will probably be able to see if their house was one that was destroyed.

have to agree with you the local news has been incredibly bad. The main sources I have found are twitter and the steiner ranch social committee facebook page.

YNN - your news network has pretty good stories.
