Great articles on the gutsy, courageous men & women of the Heart of Pines Volunteer Fire Co. who have been working tirelessly to save lives and homes. It says 18 out of 24 of them lost their own homes and have nothing left...
Most citizens probably take these hard-working volunteers for granted and don't realize how much we need their help, until a fire affects us personally.....
'In Texas, these volunteers are the front-line defense against wildfires, and they're often under-funded, many without local taxpayer support, surviving on bake sales and barbecue fundraisers'......
