There used to be a saying, if you don't like the weather in Central Texas, wait 24 hours and it will be different.

Of course it's more accurate to say: If you don't like the weather in Central Texas, wait 24 hours -- unless it's the summer, then wait 6 months and 24 hours.

ooh, I want in. I'm also guessing some 70's soon after Halloween and then a totally drastic drop in temps. It seems to always happen like that. It's summer and then a few weeks later it's freezing cold winter. I also predict another year of snow.

Cool air is just around the corner! My guess for the first day with highs in the 70's is October 10th.

After our last brutal summer in 2009 we had 17 sub-80 days in October (one was in the 50's!)

Last year it wasn't quite as nice: 4 days in October 2010 with highs in the 70's or below

It's supposed to get cool tonight, but as far as 70's during the day, probably November.

BTW, yesterday was the 90th 100-degree day of the year in Austin [source: kvue.com]

Surely, that will be the last 100-degree day of the year.....

You're right, Ken, you were very close I think we'll be forced to wait it out for more than just one day of considerably cooler temps in the 70's... would be nice if this happened in the next 3 weeks or so.

Whadya mean only one day, today was in the 70's again...

So by your definition the "cooldown" has already occurred.
