trust me, we did not want to move after just having gone through all of the trouble and expense of moving, and with a newborn and a toddler. we asked for a thorough inspection by a foundation engineer, it was just too expensive of a proposition for the landlords, which is why they offered to let us out of the lease. this offer was a surprise, and it didn't make me feel any more confident about the state of the house. but it was a relief in the end to have the option to move, which we ended up taking. and of course we had to pay to move again, we had to pay double rent for a month, etc. so maryleeII, we wouldn't have gone through this much trouble and expense if we didn't truly feel unsafe. luckily the landlords have been very nice.

It's good that you got to move. I briefly worked for real estate management company some years ago and Round Rock did have a HUGE problem with ants.

We struggle with ants here in Austin too, but the ones in Round Rock would get into the air conditioning systems and were aggressive. It was a real problem.

I imagine that there are many houses and duplexes affected by the drought as far as cracks. I don't think any of those are going to fall down though. Most of them are just superficial cracks.

Like I said though, it's good you got out of your lease. Good luck with you new place!
