I would definitely recommend this place.
That's what I hear on the UT sportsboards too. Am gonna give JMueller's a visit next week..

Went to Franklin last week and it was unsurpassed as usual, but it's a PITA to have to get there an hour before opening.

Anyways, we ate at La Margarita's Friday evening.

Also used to get excellent Mexican Food at Matts. Is Matts still open?

Great Forum

Matt's El Rancho moved to South Lamar some years ago. We stopped by there last summer and it was still pretty good.

My Dad & I loved Black's BBQ the best in Lockhart. We started eating there once in a while after Dad bought a new 1961 Chevy from Glosserman's.

Milto's at 29th and Guadalupe. Great Italian especially considering the price.

El Arroyo on W. 5th. Walked over on a whim, and thought it was decent. Looked at reviews afterward, and was glad I didn't read them beforehand (i.e. roaches, food poisoning...). Seems like I got lucky? Or that a lot of people are prone to overexaggeration.

Me again...
Tried the new LongHorn Steak House in La Frontera for lunch on Wednesday. Place was absolutely packed @ 12:30(no surprise except they have been open less than a month and Emerson hasn't moved in yet).

We ate at two of the 'original' LongHorns back in Atlanta for many years and it looks like the menu has held on. Salmon salad was tasty--raspberry vinaigrette was quite sweet--even by my standards. Bread loaf was crusty on the outside, warm and soft on the inside...just the way I remembered it. DW's 7 pepper steak salad was also very good...possibly a touch heavy on the pepper 'rub'. Leftovers were still tender hours later at dinner.

They used to serve 'real' sweet tea back in Atlanta(That's what Flo called it--REAL sweet tea )...today's sweet tea was just barely sweet--healthier, but not as much fun.

Service was excellent...still in 'new location' mode...possibly with extra staff. Couple of small coupons in Sunday's paper to entice new diners. I'm guessing Logan's Road House and the Japanese Steak House are a bit jealous(since they all share one parking lot ).

They've got some $7.99 lunch combo specials that will likely keep the place hoppin' during the day. Our waitron said they are quite pleased with their dinner business so far(a small surprise since that area isn't exactly bustlin' at night).

Sorry it's a chain , but we remember its early years...and so far, it lives up to the reputation.

Went to Phil's Icehouse on South Lamar tonight. It was good. Theirburgers don't hold a candle to Hopdoddy but their prices are lower and there's dining and a playscape outside for these 80 degree January days.

Had that before at the Burnet location and it was FANTASTIC. I tried the Violet Crown last night and it wasn't quite as terrific. Still good, but a little on the dry side.
