Burger Tex. I'm typically not big on sweet meats, but their bulgogi burgers are awesome.

Franklin's BBQ - My fiance and I got there at 9:40 or so yesterday morning, and allready there were about 115 people lined up ahead of us. By the time the doors opened at 11, there were at least that many behind us. Overall it took about 3 hours of waiting to get our food, but it was a great time, and it was worth it.

The brisket is everything it is said to be - hands down and by far the best I've ever had. The ribs were very good, the pulled pork nice and moist but a little too peppery for my taste. The sausage was "meh", and the potato salad and cole slaw both bellow average and disapointing. They have three BBQ sauces, but their main - the espresso sauce - is amazing, complex and everything a BBQ sauce should be.

Definately worth the wait, had a good time, glad to be able to say I've finally eaten there.

Stiles Switch BBQ on North Lamar. We went with our son and his lady who were in town and who, contrary to our opinion, find Franklin's to be awesome, and they said they will be going here instead in future.

Half price footlongs at Sonic on Groundhog day today, Feb. 2. A New York footlong dog, a Chicago footlong dog, and chili cheese foot long, for about six dollars total, plus tip. No tater tots. I'm on a diet.

I recently ate at Spin Modern Thai, I can't say enough good things about that place. One of the best meals I've had in Austin. Try the full spin.

Finally made it to French Quarter in Round Rock for lunch. Cute place. Nice folks. A little spendy for an everyday lunch; but the food was good and service excellent(we arrived at 1pm, so the rush was over). Blackened chicken Po-Boy for me with chicken/sausage gumbo, DW had the shrimp special. Tasty. There are some killer desserts on the menu, as well. It's in a historic building that is threatened by the 620/IH35 'improvements'; but maybe something can be done to preserve it(on the other hand, I believe these road improvements have been on the books for years...could be a while longer, I reckon).

I believe lunch is from 11a-2p during the week...might want to call if you're looking for a mid-afternoon visit.

I like French Quarter but the food isn't THAT good for the price for dinner. Lunch is more reasonable and they only have the Po Boy at lunch. It's very good.

Agreed, the lunch specials are probably the way to go. You could drop some serious coin on drinks and dessert IF you wanted.

Went to Frisco for the first time today. I reckon the recession is over The place was packed with folks buying $13 catfish and $11 meatloaf. Can't say I cared for the minty/herby iced tea. Meatloaf was tasty, sauce was sweeter than most folks would expect. Very deep flavor in the brown gravy, whipped potatoes were.(I prefer smashed) Corn and green beans were quite sweet and fairly cooked to death, but still tasty. Very pickle-y cole slaw...DW swapped me her green beans for it. Desserts were killer by their description...didn't try any.

All in all, it's a notch more expensive than Austin Diner, Jim's or the Omelettry. Food was tasty, but our two lunches with one tea and coffee came to $28 plus tip...a good 1/3 more than our typical lunch fare. There was no 'discount' for having to hear repeated sales pitches by the balloon and magic guy going table to table. That was a first for me.

We'll likely go back at some point; but I would have a hard time driving past Austin Diner or even Jim's to do so. Given the wait(Sunday lunch) for the folks arriving just after us, they don't need us to make the trip.
