Habana, a Cuban restaurant on South Congress Avenue. Delish!

Finally made it to the Texan Cafe in Hutto. Interesting diner...been there for decades. The lunch specials look pretty good, especially if you're not super hungry. Single pork chop was tasty, mashed potatoes and white gravy were quite peppery and a little salty(made them taste great...if not all that healthy). DW had the salmon salad...BIG hunk o' salmon...tasted like it had the same dry 'rub' seasonings as the pork chop. Very tasty.

Of course, they are known for their pies and other desserts; so, I gave the banana 'pudding' a go. Not a lot of pudding/custard; mostly sweet cream, bananas and wafers. Almost a meal in itself! Except that I'm cutting down on desserts, I could drop by their regularly for lunch followed by a nap!

I have some family in town tomorrow and they want to try Hopdoddy's in SoCo.

How long should I expect the wait to be around 3:00 PM?

Hopdoddy is busy all day Sunday, so I'd say plan on at least 30 minutes in line. If you will have a group larger than 4, it gets even trickier since they have to wait for one of their few bigger tables to open up. It may be faster if you sit outside.

IMO it's worth it though! Hopdoddy is amazing!

As a plan B, there is also the Hopdoddy's on Anderson Lane now.

Finally ate at Austin Land & Cattle ("ALC") last week. Note this has nothing to do with Texas Land and Cattle. Great meal for a birthday celebration. The steaks were terrific and I really like that it doesn't follow the standard steakhouse ala carte formula. Even the beer list is good.

Also at at Cho's in Lakeway. Nice and varied Japanese menu - including a bit of fusion cuisine. The "Chirashi" (I asked for all tuna - which makes it a "Tekka-don") included the best tuna sashimi I have eaten in years.

I always wanted to try out Longhorn Steakhouse, so that's where we went this weekend. I had some of the best Chicken Fried Chicken I've ever had along with some great Mac n Cheese! Delicious!
