Tan My Vietnamese for lunch today. Just off 183 on Ohlen near Peyton Gin. Arrived at 11:45 to a packed restaurant! Our table was ordering sporadically, but being served quickly. Adjacent table ordered at one time(8 diners) and had to wait quite a while. When I say the restaurant was packed, I mean standing room only!...with people constantly streaming in to escape the 37 degree wet wind! Figured it wasn't the time to try Pho as a rookie, so this Southern boy had pork chops over rice, little side salad/slaw. Everything was tasty, although the properly correct rice preparation(sticky, white) isn't on my preferred list any more. One in our group had the chicken fried rice and it looked very tasty...much more interesting than my plain rice. The noodle bowls were enjoyed by the group...no idea whether they were Pho, authentic Pho or just broth, meat and noodles...no one complained. I don't think anyone spent over $10 on their meals and most had more than their fill. Skipping my rice left me wanting a bit more, but four skinny pork chops and a salad for $8 ain't bad!! I'll be back.

Olivia's
When I pay $200 for a meal and bottle of wine I want service to match and the wait staff there is far too informal. Good food though.

Uchiko
Just like Uchi, amazing in every way.

Monday is Two for One Burger Day at The League Kitchen and Tavern in Avery Ranch. They've been open just a few weeks, but things seem to be running smoothly. Burgers are darned tasty, hand cut fries are fantastic. Other than a couple of sides, we've only had their burgers(3!); but we'll be trying more of the menu in the coming weeks. Nice addition to the Avery Ranch area.

Sway on S. 1st. Had a bit of their food at the Live Fire food festival.

Explosive flavors on a few things like Jungle Curry; interesting spin on Thai otherwise. A bit loud for my taste, but it is a hustle bustle place with community tables (they will seat you). Tasty and would go back.

Clay Pit on Guadalupe! Had the chicken tikka masala and malai kofta - delicious! The dessert was incredible - tried the Chai Spice Crème Brulee & Mango Cheesecake (amazing flavor - very unique)

Love The League in Lakeway. One of our favorites though I haven't tried the burger yet. Try the Shiner Bock short ribs and thank me later!

One of the best burgers in Austin - same for the chicken sandwich.
