Parked at OD, then walked across the street to Saxon Pub for the 9:00 show with Malford Milligan. Sort of a cross between Sam Cooke, Al Green and Otis Redding. We are so blessed to have talents like his play in our midst. Looks like Saxon will be an every other Friday gig - house was packed.
Have you discovered the Skylark yet? On Airport, lots of blues, soul, and R&B.

Ate at the new Jack Allen's on 360 today. I have been wanting to go to JA's and never got the chance so I met some friends there for lunch. It was as good as I had hoped it would be. Will definitely be going back.

EZ's Brick Oven and Grill...old style burger, very tasty. Same for the sweet potato fries...yum. Good iced tea...lousy traffic and parking. I live in the 'burbs for a reason.

I feel the same about Billy's on Burnet Rd at Hancock, dinner for tonight. No traffic, though. There's a reason I've stayed here for almost half a century.

And last time I checked, NYC was not a place to get bbq'ed brisket, but I believe that's changed, too. More fun facts. I never tire of chicken/egg arguments.
Well........NYC isn't a place to get BBQ brisket. But you may have heard of something they are famous for.....corned beef/ pastrami? And you know what cut is traditionally used? Brisket!

Aroma Italian (on S Lamar). This is actually our second time there. The arugula & prosciutto pizza is phenomenal, one of my top 5 pizzas ever (including in Italy). It's that good.

Finally made it to the Foxhole Culinary Tavern...for 'Social Hour'. Pretty tasty flatbread pizza kinda thing with three meats...certainly worth ten bucks. Single tacos were tasty as well; but a bit spicy for me. Had the pulled pork and the grilled steak tacos, fresh and flavorful. Can't speak to the alcohol offerings...DW had a glass of wine but I stuck with water. All in all, it's a couple of notches above casual; although all manner of dress was observed and kids were at every fourth or fifth table in our section. It's supposed to be a locally supplied sort of place, so I give them a star for that...not sure how we would check on it. Prices are Z Tejas+, so 'Social Hour' was a good way to get familiar with their menu. Their burger is brisket and chuck, so I'll likely give it a try next time. Dessert menu looks like trouble...I might have to drop by just for that...maybe AFTER a bike ride

Mann's Smokehouse, here I come!
Finally went there today. A little pricey, but the meat was excellent. I'll be going back.

Mann's
Hey, the TexasGunTalk group was there at lunch...place was hoppin' by the time we left(We start @ 1100). It can get a little spendy like many BBQ places...I usually stick with the daily special...meat and two sides for just under $10. Pulled pork on Fridays works for me! Blackberry ice cream was pretty interesting!
