I'd like to do a very unscientific poll to find out how many Austinites or potential Austinites watched the CMA awards. I have family in the DFW area, and I guarantee they are all glued to the television tonight, so I'm just wondering how many of you watched. This will have zero influence on our decision to move there, but still, I'm just wondering.

Nope. Country music radio has pretty much been going downhill for a long time. It is hard to differentiate the difference between country and Top 40 pop. The only saving grace we have as Texas residents is we still have home grown heroes who have yet to change to the pop format like George Strait. And we still have plenty of Texas artists who still play a more traditional country sound and they are not afraid to mix in a little fiddle and steel guitar.

DW really dislikes all the hoopla. I was going to DVR it, but watched about 15 minutes at the beginning. It's hardly 'country' music anymore(otherwise, I wouldn't watch at all). I have to say there are some gorgeous women in that biz.(Not that I watched because of that)

So...put me down for 'watched' 15 minutes.

No. Country music ain't what it used to be. I gag when I see a Country Music Video on TV when I'm channel surfing.

Country music is huge in Austin--gee, have you not heard the hillbilly music greeting you once you arrive at the Austin "airport"? I believe the top rated (or near top rated) terrestrial radio stations in Austin are both country music.

Country music stopped being good past the late 80's - for me, at least.

I don't believe that modern country, or whatever it is called, is quite as much of a thing here as in Dallas and other parts of Texas.
