Possible move back to Texas (San Antonio, Austin: lease, houses, safe neighborhood)

Big opportunity for work and a relocation down to Austin or San Antonio. At first looked like SA would be more conducive but now looks like Austin might be a better fit foe work.

I've got the usual questions, with some qualifiers...can spend upwards of 300k for housing, have 4 kids that need great schools, I love to hunt, speak some Spanish (much more when immersed) and I'm looking for a cool part of town or rural area near Austin.

The obvious: need high quality schools, nice houses, safe neighborhood, decent shopping. Don't need to be especially close to restaurants as I'm from New Orleans and we tend to do a lot of our own cooking!

I'll be traveling for work and don't mind living outside Austin.

Will be looking to hook up on a good family oriented hunting lease somewhat close (will drive up to 2-3hrs).

I make a good living but would rather be surrounded by good folks than just rich snobs.

So where would you locals focus your search in regards to the above info?
