Default Traffic & Aggressiveness

I have to add my two cents to this post. The traffic is only the beginning. I have been here 5 years now and I have seen a tremendous increase in traffic in the Austin area. What is still to come is the aggressive driving from drivers who cannot handle the traffic and congestion. I lived all my life in the Northeast (I was born there had no choice in the matter) and I lived with the congestion, traffic and aggressively selfish people. I moved here to get away from that way of life as I never supported that kind of behavior. I don't want to see these kind of people here but unfortunately there coming.

Actually, the growth has been fairly consistent for as long as there has been an Austin metro (1960). Population then - 302K. 1970 - 400K (32%). 1980 - 585K (47%). 1990 - 846K (45%). 2000 - 1.25M (48%). 2010 - 1.7M (37%).

As far as "no good Italian food" - no place has both good Italian, and good Mexican. We got first choice.

I take your point But not entirely true, L.A., Chicago and Mexico City all have superb Italian and superb Mexican food. San Antonio has great Mexican and surprisingly good Italian food. These are the ones I know. There might be others . . .

Have you tried any of the Mandola's or his Trattoria Lisina? My vowel ending last name nephew loves them. In fact, his parents are visiting and he took them to Lisina last night for NYE's.

I live by the "NEVER eat Mexican food North of the Red River or east of the Sabine". I looked for a decent Mexican restaurant for two years in Kansas City and found nothing better than TV dinners.

The worst thing about Austin is traffic and a City Council that refuses to recognize that only 1% of us want to ride a train.

Then you would never eat at Frontera Grill or Topolo and you'd miss two of the best Mexican Restaurants in the States
