Thanks in advance. This is for Spring Break, around the middle of March.

I have camped along Lake Travis before at Pace Bend in February and it was awesome - the water was perfect and clear, the cliffs were beautiful, the jet skiing and other water activities were great. Is there anywhere along Lake Travis with cabin rentals? What about horseback rides available for rent?

Is there anywhere else in central TX near good water that would have all these activities?

Also, what is the water level like right now? If it's going to be completely down, I guess I should look elsewhere.

The water level is really low, down to 33% of capacity. Pretty much all of Central Texas is in a drought. The best lake camping spot would be Arkansas Bend in my opinion. There is still deep water offshore around the park.

There are a few cottages here La Hacienda RV Resort & Cottages

You can rent houseboats here Lake Travis Boat Rentals at Hurst Harbor | ...the easy way to Get On the Lake!

There are several townhouses and condos that can be rented around the lake if you do a google search.

I was camping at Pace Bend at the beginning of October last year and the water was way low, but it was still great camping. One advantage with the low water is that the beach area is very wide, which is great when you have kids and they want to dig in the sand.

How about some of the State Parks that allow camping? They are impeccably maintained and with all the huge budget cuts that TPWD took last legislative session, they could certainly use our business. TPWD: Find a Park

Inks Lake is nice for easy, family-style car camping where you're in a campground with other cars, tents, campers, etc. It's very close to Austin and has fishing, hiking, etc. In Late march the average high/low is 68/48. Sounds pretty pleasant to me.

I went to Inks lake in August and the water level was fine. I was told by the park staff that the lake levels stay constant because the lake is fed through the Buchanan Dam. I am sure at some point it fluctuates, but is worth a try.

Happy camping!
