JMueller is indeed amazing. What a fun story!

Although, I seriously hope this doesn't lead to JMueller having absolutely unreasonable lines like Franklin.

Yeah, I hope not either. I don't think that JMueller will have the cult following that Franklin does, but when the bbq is that good, you can expect word to travel. Worst case scenario, it causes Franklin's line to be more reasonable...not a bad thing.

Both are excellent and are better than anything in Lockhart and Taylor, IMO.

Wen to Franklin a couple weeks ago on a Thursday morning. Got there at 10AM (was 13th in line) - after he opened at 11AM (with over 50 in line behind me) I was out the door with my to-go package at 11:15. Well worth the wait, but I ain't doing that very often.

Went by JMueller's Saturday for the first time. Got the last parking spot in his tiny lot at 12:30PM - there were only 2 people in ffront of us, but no more room at the picnic tables. Excellent brisket, and the best sausage we ever had. We'll be back there soon.

Of course with all the magazine & blog publicity, JMueller's will be overrun with tourists like Franklin is.

Hey, they had to give a heads-up to all the F1 visitors so they could plan their Texas BBQ eatin' schedule in advance! (Never mind the South By folks, they're going to be EVERYwhere.)

Dang! I wanted to read the rest of that story. I guess you have to subscribe.

Hate to point it out, but while you can subscribe online, and this page -- Subscribe to Texas Monthly :: Texas Monthly -- states that the site uses SSL for security, that page is not secure.

Hm, I'll just try and get my hands on a copy then. It was a fun little teaser though.

Okay. You'd think that, if they even knew about website security such that they could mention SSL, they'd take the time to link to that page with the https. But, even by accessing the page via https (rather than http), I get a warning that it's not secure.

Since they do appear to have an SSL certificate, my guess is that ... well, they ought to know better if they're taking credit card payments via that page.

ADDED: I sent them an email about it via their Contact page.

Stiles BBQ has a former Louie Mueller guy running the place and it's damn good. I don't have the schlep to Taylor anymore for beef ribs.
