Hello,I have stayed in Austin for several months. I am from Asia. I dont have any experience to find a job in Austin. Right now I just wish for a normal job in a restaurant or in a shop..etc . But I dont know how to apply for it.

Over here how do people apply for job? They apply online? which website? or just go directly to the restaurant and ask the manager whether they need an employee?
Pls help to give me some information.
Living in US without having a job is so terrible for me :-(

Maybe this will help //www.city-data.com/forum/austin/708520-tips-seeking-employment-austin.html

If it were me I'd be out going door to door at the kind of places I'd like to work if I had no other ideas about better ways to do it.

try applying at rehab hospitals or hospitals in general. you might want to apply as a rehab tech or a transporter, or depending on the requirements, CNA as well. getting those jobs will eventually lead you to a career in healthcare which is a goldmine of stable and growing jobs. when i moved to texas, i sent online applications through headhunters who linked me to my current employer. a friend of mine also applied for,and got a job in Target online. if doing it online overwhelms you, you might want to go to the places in person.

I second Cpt Rn's advice. When talking retail or restaurant, you need to pound the pavement. Or check out company websites, a lot of them say which stores are hiring and how to apply. Both industries have high turnover so many of those types of jobs are often hiring.

yup. that same friend of mine who got that job in Target also got one of her prior parttime jobs by spending entire days scouring the stores in malls.
