Can't find much information about Belton. Do people, who live in Belton, usually go to Austin to do things?

I can't speak for everyone, but my sister attended UMHB (for nursing ) and she typically went to Temple or Killeen for entertainment. She visited me in Austin somewhat regularly on the weekends. It's only about an hour drive, not considering traffic.

It depends on where you are coming from or going to in Austin. If you only want to go to a movie theater, than there is no point on coming from Belton all the way to austin. If you want an outlet store, you can go to Round Rock (about 40 mins) rather than San Marcos (about an hour and 40 mins). Austin is a big place, you need to narrow it down. Most people in Belton have no reason to come into Austin though, unless they want to go clubbing at a gay club. Gay clubs are really the only thing that you can't find in Temple. Otherwise, there is no reason to come into Austin when everything you need is already in Belton or Temple.

I live by the arboretum and drive up to lake belton periodically it is a solid hour to the lake, probably about 45-50 minutes to downtown belton.

If you were in central or south austin, you would add 15-25 minutes to the time.

I would not commute from belton, although Im sure people come to austin for shopping and entertainment on weekends.

People in the Temple/Belton/Killeen area will come to Austin on occasion for things like UT sporting events, shopping, concerts, but it's not a regular occurrence. I lived there many years ago and I'd say we ventured into "the big city" 4 or 5 times a year. I commuted to work in Austin for a year and it wasn't pretty - it's not something you want to do on a regular basis.

Frankly, I didn't give it a lot of thought b/c it is a silly question. The internet can tell you what buisnesses are in Belton.....

The only real bar scene (gay or not) is down around the Austin area. There's not much in the way of good bars/clubs in the Belton/Temple/Killeen area, or at least I haven't seen them. Austin has better shopping as well even though the some of the same stores may exist in Temple or Belton the inventory of the Austin stores seems fresher. And of course you'd need to make regular trips down to Austin if you want to see live entertainment/cultural events. Those are just some of the things off the top of my head.
