So I graduated, and got a job in Intel's Austin campus. I have been looking around for apartments and I seem to like River Stone Ranch apartments a couple of miles south of Intel, right of Mo-Pac expressway.. seems close enough to work, and a bunch of walmart / sam's / target / H.E.B and everything else in close vicinity as well. Any one have any other recommendations or information?

Now, I am looking for other information ... pertaining to --

1. License and car registration. I have a Baton Rouge / Louisiana number plate on my car, and a Louisiana license. I am guessing I need those changed. Where's the nearest office I can go to (and are the lines long?)
2. Car inspection. My car has a valid Louisiana inspection sticker. Do I need a new one for Texas or can I wait till it expires.
3. Any good place to buy a motorbike? I have always wanted one, but didn't need one in college. I would like to get myself one .. anywhere I can start?

Any other tips / suggestions ? I know there are plenty of threads on moving to Austin, but none really have the particular information I am looking for .. Once I move in and settle down, I will probably start looking for restaurants, movies and other entertainment (particularly south Indian ones) and things to do.

Additionally, anyone on these forums living in Austin, from Tamil Nadu, India or working in Intel? I don't really know anyone in Austin yet and would like to get to know people !!

This will get you started. Also, Texas has a motorcycle endorsement for licenses.

Time to start calling yourself a 'grad/alum' rather than a 'student'. Don't want folks to think you didn't gad-gee-ate

Congrats on the job, mid week morning seems to be best for drivers licenses and other govt. paperwork around here. Give yourself a few hours just in case. Car inspections are around $30 and there are places everywhere. I like Sticker Stop because they are fast but not sure if there is one south.

Regarding a bike I know several ppl who bought from Woods Fun Center they also arranged lessons and helped with license.

River Stone Ranch apartments seems to be in a convenient location. There will be a bit of traffic but it should be an easy commute. You will also be near downtown and south congress areas for evening and weekend fun and you have easy access to some nice parks and greenbelt too.

I suspect you will meet other Indian people at Intel and there are occasionally Indian posts on these forums.
