Austin international School offers French and Spanish immersion and is building a middle school. Their pricing is on par with Magellan.

Any updates to this?

We are looking at magellan and currently attend the LME-canyon vista-westwood track

Im surprised that magellan is listed as the most expensive. It ends up being about 15K/year, but it seems like other schools like st stevens are around 25K.

st michaels is 18K

Anyone have a summary of pricing for comparable private schools?

Curious to hear why you'd move from your current track to Magellan- what are you looking for in a school?

Magellen is among the most expensive for the elementary grades. St Stephens is 6-12th and St. Michaels is just HS.

Do they offer extensive financial aid? Places like St. Stephen's and St. Andrews and St. Francis do.

I know that schools like Paragon Prep and St. Francis School see a constant stream of families coming to them from Magellen, largely due to price.

Most Austin private schools have their tuition and fee structure on their websites. I see a comparison of HS and MS private school tuition every year for work that I do but I can't share it publicly and I don't have it in front of me either.

For elementary school Rawson Saunders is the most expensive (because they serve only dyslexic students) then St. Gabriel's, St. Andrews, Magellen, and Regents, (roughly 18-15K), then a step down to Austin Waldorf, Paragon Prep, Hill Country, then St. Francis School (say 12-9K), then a bigger step down to church subsidized schools, Brentwood Christian, Catholic parish schools etc. some of which run under 6K.

But financial aid can make a HUGE difference. St. Andrews and St. Francis are among the most generous. Regents too. My impression is that Magellan doesn't offer much f-aid but I could be wrong.

With the high school being delayed, I think Magellan is starting to see attrition in their middle school.

So I looked up the schools, thought I would just post them:

MAgellan is 13K + 1.5K fees
paragon is 13.3 + 500 fees

so pretty close..

regents is 13-14.5k
st andrews is 20-23K depending on grade
st francis is in a lower tier at 8-9K depending on grade.

I dont see people leaving magellan to go to paragon because of price. There must be some other reason.

They are moving from less of a language focus to more of an intense IB prep program, btw.
