Its easy to have great greasy spoon food in Austin - bbq, mexican, food trailers, etc. Love it all.

But where do you go for great healthy eating? I am talking whole grains, vegetables, fish, variety, gourmet but healthy? I can do that at Whole Foods, but would love to know about any restaurants out there that cater toward a healthy crowd with healthier menu...but also taste good!

Eastside Cafe.
http://www.eastsidecafeaustin.com/

I used to love the West Lynn Cafe, but it's been closed for years now.

Is Mother's still open?

There's not enough healthy eating in Austin, but try: Eastside Cafe. Snap Kitchen. Beets Living Cafe downtown. Leaf (salad place) downtown. I would kill to have more organic, vegetarian-friendly, gluten-free friendly cafes around town.

Yes, forgot the food trucks! Vegan Yacht I believe is on the east side. Snap Kitchen also has a pod on Congress and 2nd.

Veggie Heaven is delicious and one of my favorite places, but I don't consider it to be healthy by any means. Besides the veggies, everything is fried.

SnackBar usually has some interesting healthy choices, as well as Bouldin Creek Cafe

I like Mongolian Grille in that I can load up on veggies, garlic, ginger, etc and control how much salt, oil, and sugar is going in my food. I think you can make a pretty healthy meal. No brown rice though, unfortunately.

Big fan of Koriente on E 7th between Red River and Frontage rd. - great affordable healthy options.

Mother's is absolutely terrible.

I'll add Central Market, surprisingly large menu and cooked to order. Snap Kitchen also has a neat little trailer on 2nd and Congress across from the Austonian.
