Hello,

I intend shortly to take the driving test to get my license.

a) Any preference on which DPS location is better - the Austin NW DPS (on Research) or Austin North Lamar DPS ?

b) What neighbourhoods do the examiners take you through (so I can practise beforehand)

c) Any tips/thoughts ?

Tip? Yes, stay on the right hand side of the road!!! (Your form of spelling looks like you might be from somewhere where that is not the custom!)

As for the DPS offices, I have heard horror stories about long lines at the Austin offices. There is also an office on the north side of San Marcos. It's on the east side of IH35. You exit and U-turn back to the building.

We went there for my son's learner permit and it was not crowded and the people working there were friendly.

I do recall a sign about making an appointment for driving test, so maybe call and ask more.

Good luck and relax. It will go fine.

I believe the rules are such that you now need to book a time online. I took mine at the 183 location (twice...) back in May and both times it was (in order) a parallel parking (huge space), reversing and then a right turn out of the lot, a right turn at the next stop sign, a right turn at the end of the road, a right turn back on 183 frontage road and a right turn back into the parking lot...

Check the office in Georgetown. VERY little in the way of lines, though I can't tell you what the route would be.

Office in Georgetown is currently closed -- a car hit it apparently. They refer to either the one on 183 or in Taylor I think.

Was that during the swerve test, or the parallel parking?
