Has the burn ban been lifted? I haven't heard anything, but with all the rain we've been getting, it seems like it should have been lifted by now.

I know we are still on mandatory water restrictions, but I just want to know if I can fire up my charcoal grill.

Both City and County have lifted their burn bans. But I don't think either one applied to cooking except in City Parks.

From CaptRn's link:
Outdoor burning is authorized for fires used for recreational or ceremonial purposes, for the noncommercial preparation of food, or for supplying warmth in cold weather. In other words, campfires, bonfires, and cooking fires are generally allowed. These fires are subject to general requirement No. 7 (relating to General Requirements for Allowable Outdoor Burning). (30 TAC 111.207)

As long as the fire is contained and under your control, you should be good to go. However, in these 40mph wind gusts, anything can happen .

Their advisory is to always have someone attending the fire... don't leave it unattended... and to have a hose or water buckets handy in case it gets out of the pit, out of control, etc.

And perhaps the biggest one... do not dump or abandon hot ashes. Make sure the fire is completely out... COLD!... before you finish.

This is the state-level rule that covers burning at ANY time, not just under a burn ban. I guess a burn ban could affect charcoal grills, but I don't have one, so never thought about it.
