My husband and I purchased a home in Austin and need Homeowner's insurance. I have shopped around & received three different quotes that range from $500 to $900. Is this typical? There are a couple of extras on the $900 quote but I am not sure why there's such a broad range in price depending on the company.

The quotes most likely are not apples to apples. Double-check your deductable amounts and what, if any, extras are added (glass coverage, mold coverage, etc.) as well as the limits for personal injury, persopnal property replacement, etc. Many insurance agents don't discuss all of this with you but include a standard set of stuff.

Hi ya Steve, I hear that! I am actually in the insurance field.

As for coverage, I got high coverage. My deductible is $1000.00. Insurance coverage on home is 300K w/ pool inside items 130K, I can't remember the liability, but I know I am covered very well.

Autos are also 1000.00 deductible w/ 300/10/300

Reason why I choose high deductible’s is b/c I am a safe driver and admit that I don’t make careless mistakes on the streets. When I was involved in any wreaks I was not at fault (2 times). So I assure why I choose to save on auto insurance per month.
