But anyway, I was more curious WHERE the place was. I think I have narrowed it down to way out on Manor Road, which turns into another road name. From the map it looks like there are a lot of neighborhoods along the way. And that would account for all the stopping. It also seemed like a sort of winding road, and by the time you got to the restaurant it was a little more rural. At the time it made Austin seem pretty large, but now it looks like the neighborhoods are all pretty close to that road, rather than scattered all over between. But I'm still not certain that it was Manor.

What was the name of that dive in Hutto? Snuffy's? Again, driven by several times but never ate there.

The only other thing I know of out towards Manor was something that I think was called the 290 Diner or 290 Cafe but it doesn't fit your description.

Hmm. Now that I've looked at some pictures of Manor road online, it doesn't look quite right. I feel like the neighborhoods were newer and more suburban if that makes sense. Mid century or probably newer. I also remember a large green area somewhere on the left (north) side of the road after turning east from I35. Like maybe a park (lots of trees), but it could be my imagination. I suppose that it would be further north along I35.

That particular Threadgills is on North Lamar. It is a converted gas station with a rustic Texas country theme but it's not down a country road by any stretch of the imagination. At one time they were famous for their CFS although in my opinion all of their food has gone seriously downhill in the past 10-15 years. I almost never eat there any more.

Now I am thinking it could have been way out Dessau Road. Like maybe from I/35 Braker then turning onto Dessaur, or even further south from I35 (considering the driver could have taken what looked like an easier route on a map.) Which would place it in the Pflugerville area, according to google map.
