Firstly, thanks to everyone for the responses.

I will aggregate all my replies into a single post for the sake of convenience.

Mark311: Thanks for the apartment recommendations. I have started looking around the arboretum area. I have checked out riata previously. Seems like a lovely complex but a bit on the pricey side in terms of $ / sq ft.

OpenD: The urls seem to work now. Odd.

Austin97: The commute doesn't seem too bad from the west campus area but it's definitely not as easy as Arboretum or Far West as has been mentioned. Also I do not want roommates and am not really interested in the college/university lifestyle anymore. I seek more of a professional lifestyle but still want to be around others my age. I agree with OpenD's comments but still would like to thank you for your feedback.

OpenD: What actually attracted me to this particular complex is the great layout for the a3 unit and the value pricing. In terms of $ / sq ft it's not bad at all. All in all though you guys have convinced me that it is not quite central enough.

10scoachrick: I have looked into the domain before. Prices are definitely higher. I'd rather live elsewhere and get a bigger place.

ScoPro: Do you know what the toll charges would be like for my commute?

All in all, thanks again to everyone for the feedback. It's definitely been valuable and I have decided to look at places around the arboretum area. Instead of searching for places north of my workplace I will instead search for them south of my workplace.

Good luck with your search. As you can tell, most folks want you to be as close to work as you can, given your other parameters. Not a bad idea; but you'll find, generally, the traffic to be more painful as you look closer in(no surprise). I like the Arboretum/Great Hills area, but there are some pretty nasty intersections around there; just a block or two could make a huge difference in commute times/ease of travel. Generally.2 , the upper end of MoPac and the 45 toll make moving around 'up here' pretty easy, so you can travel a greater distance perhaps at a higher speed(IF that's what you decide to do).

To determine the toll charges for various commute scenarios, take a peek:

From the apartments on 620, your commute to MoPac & Duval would take you through two pay spots - 50 cents upon entering at 620, then 75 cents (total - $1.25) passing through the second one just north of your destination.
If you bought a toll tag sticker, the cost would be 45 cents and 68 cents respectively (total - $1.12)

The TexTag sticker is good on all Texas tollways, I do believe.

There is Stone-lake apartments on Braker Lane, a bunch of others on Duval right next to Time Warner cable west of Mopac, lots of condos/duplexes as well and a really great complex on the southwest corner of Parmer and Mopac. All these would easily be within a mile/walking distance, five minute lazy drive to work, for you.
All these are surrounded by eateries and entertainment options that would make your desire to drive anywhere else merely out of curiosity than necessity.
I wouldn't pick anything north of the intersection of Parmer and McNeil, pure suburbia wasteland...

For a single guy or young couple, this is true.

But even I (an oldfart) & Mrs.Sco don't mind the 15 minute drive down from friendly & convenient Brushy Creek to enjoy Happy Hour on the deck at the Roaring Fork on Stonelake just off Braker Lane...
