We broke our year-long lease after 9 months, because I was DONE with the scorpions. Pest control didn't help.

Thankfully I had a fierce orange tabby cat named Loki at the time who HATED scorpions and was almost supernaturally good at killing them without getting stung. I don't know how he managed to do that, but he could take them out without getting hurt himself. I just always knew when Loki suddenly got the kitty crazies and started swatting something, he'd found another one of them.
That's my hood!

Not nearly as bad as your ordeal, thankfully! Pest control has helped immensely, as does allowing my flock of chickens to ramble around the house. We're seeing far less too since the weather 'moderated' a year or two ago. We have a miniature Schnauzer that does an incredible job alerting us to their presence, too.

I used to work in the Great Hills area...yeah, you don't need to go out of the city to see snakes and scorpions..and anything else. A colleague discovered a rattler at his home in Cat Mountain.

We had a baby copperhead in our yard last fall in Hunter's Chase! My mother found it when she was visiting. She was less than thrilled.
