Mueller, as reported by the Austin Business Journal.

From the ABJ Real Estate Roundup:

Smashburger leased 2,400 square feet in Mueller Regional Retail North at the southeast corner of I-35 and 51st Street. Britt Morrison with the Commercial Retail Division of The Weitzman Group handled negotiations as exclusive leasing agent for Mueller’s retail space. Smashburger joins a line-up that includes Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marshalls, The Home Depot and Old Navy.

Just what Austin has been so desperately wanting... another hamburger place.

You are right. Much as I used to miss In 'N Out (I don't anymore,) I don't really care if they move to Austin. There are lots of places to get just as good a burger meal, something I crave only about once a month.

Have to say I don't know anything about them. Just thought I'd pass along the news, especially since the brand was mentioned in the thread about the Parkside Village/Alamo Drafthouse center. I reckon it's a tad less generic than some other options.

Hmm interesting. I went there once in Houston with the gf and it was pretty good. I enjoyed one of their burgers with a fried egg in it and sweet potato fries. At least that particular area is not saturated with burger joints. I think it'll fit in pretty well there with young families in Meuller

It's fast-casual. They are pretty good. A cleaner, fresher (better, IMO) burger than, say, Five Guys, and I am not a huge burger person that craves them often. Their signature sauce is quite good. The buns are unique, fresh toppings. They also have chicken burgers (chicken breast), lots of choices for chicken which probably sets them apart... those are very good and what I used to get. They have sweet potato fries which are excellent.

I think SmashBurger is better than all of the current fast casual burger chains we have in town, so I'm looking forward to this.

I've never been to Smashburger, but it definitely looks like a step up from the typical fast food burger on their website. The fact that you can choose from four different "artisan" buns plus they have a nice selection of toppings including eight different cheeses looks great to me.

I doubt that it will top Moonie's, but a good hamburger place in that area close to UT really is needed. I think good burger places in that area are definitely lacking. The College kids are going to welcome that place in that location. I'll definitely head down there from Round Rock to try it out once it opens.

Edit: Just looked at their menu again: Two different veggie burgers, Haagen Dazs shakes, spinach and goat cheese salad, nice looking chicken breast sandwiches. Definitely sign me up for this place. I'm thinking about driving to Temple for a chocolate Haagen Dazs shake right now....

Here is the menu for the one in Temple:

Temple - Smashburger

It's also interesting that the menus are slightly different for each location. For example, the Temple menu only has 6 cheeses available and one type of veggie burger.

those look great! I haven't had their burgers. Looks like a cross between 5 Guys and In N Out.

Not at all. They more in line with gourmet burger joints than two overrated chains.
