So I need to get up into the attic once a year and pour some diluted bleach into the condensate pan? Is that all there is to it?

I figured out what sink this drains into (master bath.) I would love at some point to capture the condensed water, but I have enough projects on my hands right now. Is there anyone who does that sort of thing, just for future reference?

At least every 6 months. People who are fastidious do it monthly.

Evaporator core... Condenser coil.

I think it is the evaporator core that is part of the inside unit that has the condensation pan and the condenser coils are outside.

Yup, simple cycle drawing, but the moisture is releases from the air as the air is cooled as it comes out of the expansion valve. During low humidity periods, there will be very little moisture released.

So it is the evaporator that is in the attic and has a pan underneath it, right? Whatever the name, that is where I need to go. And I think I need to wait until I have an early morning time to go look, as otherwise, I will be found later, cooked in the attic. For most cleaning with bleach, as in medical settings, you use a 10 to 1 proportion of water to bleach. Same thing here?

If you are going up there, also look for corrosion in the pan and/or any 'tilt' of buckling of the pan. Both can contribute to problems with proper drainage.
