I am looking to possibly attend the University of Texas for law school. Is school located within or close to the downtown area?

Also how is the public transportation in Austin? Is it easy to make it without a car?

Would you say there is affordable housing for students within the city? Under 800 a month would be ideal.

I appreciate any help

UT is on the north end of downtown and the Law School is on campus however it is on the NE side of campus. The campus is quite large. Public transportation around campus and downtown is easy. Although it can be war trying to get on a bus on West Campus at some times of day. lol. It is like trying to fight to get on a subway in NYC. Outside of central Austin then the public transit is not near as good. But you will find most of the student housing in West Campus. The other areas around Austin with housing for students all have regular shuttles going to UT also.

For student housing you shouldn't have a problem finding a place for $800. It won't be great though. lol. It will be about what you should expect as a student. Most of the student housing near there will be for a little more.

For the law school, you might want to look in North Campus or in Hyde Park along a bus route. West Campus is party central and probably won't be your cup of tea. For $800 you're not going to find anything extravagant, but nothing sketchy either.
