I have guests coming from Alabama who are particular about fried chicken. Can anyone suggest a place?

(I'm not a big snob or anything. We typically eat at Jack's or KFC; the quality varies widely by store.)

Thanks!

Unique fast food chicken you have Culvers and Bill Miller's, for artisinal fried chicken you have Max's Wine Dive and Lucy's (my personal favorite). I'd stay away from Lucky J's ( pretty bad). Some folks swear by a few fried chicken trailers. But I'd man up and go to Lucy's very Austinie. I will advise though it's more expensive than fast food fried chicken but it' sway better quality IMO.

There is a New Orleans restaurant in Marble Falls that has amazing fried chicken along with other yummy things. THE REAL NEW ORLEANS STYLE RESTAURANT
Note, their website says they are in Round Mountain but the one we frequent is in Marble Falls on FM 1431

I've always liked Church's chicken on Burnet Road.

There are those that prefer Popeye's (cajun style) with a kick.

Church's is reasonably priced and not spicy.

Bush's Chicken is pretty dependable. The key is to get the whole parts rather than just the tenders...and make sure to eat it while warm. It's not the best 'leftover' chicken, but this South Carolina boy thinks it's pretty tasty.

Bush's isn't the only chicken stop I'd make, but could be included in a multi-chicken meal visit.

Top Notch was pretty tasty, but I haven't been there in a couple of years.

Lucy's. They can eat at the chains any time they want. Give them some local flavor.

I agree that Lucy's is a real Austin style eating. It is more expensive than the chains, but so much better. Great sides, too, and that can make a big difference.
