Driver's License Vision Test (with monovision contacts) (Austin: relocating, office)

Aloha,

I'll be relocating from Honolulu to Austin next month and am coming up with a number of things for the wisdom of this board, but I'll start with a really practical issue:

I can't pass the vision test for a driver's license with the monovision prescription contact lenses I now wear.

I looked at the Texas DPS website and downloaded the Form DL-63, but it's a little confusing. Do I need to first go to an optometrist and get the form completed to bring it to the driver's license office, or should I go to the DL office first, to be sent off in search of an eye doctor?

Here in Hawai‘i, I just got a letter from an optometrist, and that satisfied the vision test requirement. But obviously, I don't have a doctor in Austin yet.
