I'm surprised all the Republicans up there aren't having conniption fits! LOL!!

The food trailer park is set to open in downtown Round Rock, but current city zoning ordinances don't allow for food trucks. The city has commented there are researching food truck ordinances.

Plans brewing for Round Rock's first food trailer park

ROUND ROCK — The food trailer trend in Austin has cooked up an appetite among business owners for mobile eateries a little further north.

Flyers have cropped up advertising a "Wilco Food Trailer Park" coming soon to downtown Round Rock. It's a venture that supporters say will be a boon for business in the downtown area — but the trailers are currently not allowed in the city, so officials are working to draft standards to regulate them.
Should Round Rock follow Austin's lead into 'weirdness' with food trucks? What you do think?

Well, there are a number of small eateries in that area already conforming to existing codes. If I owned one, I surely wouldn't welcome a glut of 'less-conforming' competition. I'm already not too crazy about the traffic around there, but maybe they can pull it off. From what I've seen, it's not like people are walking up and down the sidewalks looking for food, so I would imagine most of the incremental business would come from people driving into the area. It's not exactly South Congress. I'd make it a point to drop by and try it IF I could be sure the proper health standards were in place.

Depends on how good the food is in the roach coaches.

why would someone NOT want food trucks in their city? I way prefer mom and pop to big box. I would LOVE to have them in Cedar Park!

Are any of you aware of the fact that round rock already has a food trailer park started that now has 3 trailers...off of 79. Hutto is also going to start one and I already know a lady who is pondering starting one here.

You sadly misunderstand republicans then. Dems don't singlehandedly keep restaurants open. Everyone has to eat

I understand. Dems create new ideas. Repubs swat them down - when they want to!

To be accurate, Round Rock's bumper sticker motto reads: "Keep Round Rock mildly unusual."

They didn't swat down the food trailer idea and many want them here...so put that in your hat, so to speak. And just to clarify...I'm posting this with a smile on my face because I'm totally just joking with you! But I am serious about the repubs here loving food trailers.
